Reggie Fils-Aimé has been appointed to Gamestop’s board of directors. Fils-Aimé is, of course, best known for his 13 years stint as President and COO of Nintendo of America. Prior to that, he had successful positions at Pizza Hut, Panda Express, and VH1. Under Fils-Aimé Nintendo saw massive success with their Wii and DS consoles being must-have products. His over-the-top presentations won him the attention of gamers the world over.
Gamestop has seen better times. With several stores liquidating stock, reducing supply and closing their doors, several industry experts and laypersons have assumed that what was once the place to buy video games is now on it’s way out. But perhaps, not all hope is lost; Reggie was considered the shot in the arm the Nintendo of America needed at the time to revitalize their public image after the GameCube’s lackluster sales.
